Purpose Statement: This blog post provides the first few paragraphs of a press release on thee fundraising events at Honey PIe and explains to readers the intended audience of this story.
Feature Story
Honey Pie Pizza, a local pizza company located “down the alley,” has made a name for itself in more ways than one. Not only are they known for their quirky vibe and pizza made with local ingredients, but they are also known for finding ways to help the community.
Owners of Honey Pie pizza Bubba and Sarah King and Alex and Aubrey Nichols are committed to keeping the promise they made when they initially took over from Jeff Skinner. When Honey Pie first changed hands, Aubrey Nichols said, “We love everything Jeff created for Newberg with Honey Pie, and are so excited to continue operating this business to support our local community in any way we can.”
They’ve held true to this mission, and the month of April is the perfect display of this. On April 7th Honey Pie Pizza is holding a fundraiser for Mountain View Middle school, a local middle school here in Newberg. Along with this one-day fundraiser, 10 % of the proceeds from their EVOO base pizza sales will go to A Family Place throughout the month of April.
Analysis
When writing the beginning of this feature story, I had in mind the Newberg Graphic audience. Since both the business and the organizations they are helping are local, I felt that the most relevant audience would be those living here in Newberg. Community is a big deal for many people, and knowing that a local business such as Honey Pie is helping put money into local charities would make myself and many others want to help support that business more.
